Frequently Asked Questions
How do you choose your product lines?
Each of our product lines has specific characteristics:
1. They are items almost every home has.
2. They are items that the homeowners normally purchase (and often assemble) on their own taking away their free or family time.
3. They are items that are “set it and forget it” items. They have very little if any maintenance or need for ongoing attention.
4. Assembly/installation by the home builder of these products is minimal. The cost for any assembly/installation done by the home builder is calculated into the price to the homeowner.
5. They are items that the typical builder does not normally offer.
Is it much work for the home builder?
Our goal is to make it as easy and profitable as possible for the home builder to offer and install these products.
1. The items come to the site all packaged in one shipment and labeled for each individual home.
2. The home builder is responsible for unpacking the container on site and placing/installing the items.
3. At the choice of the home builder, they can bill and collect from the homeowner, or we can.
How do you select the products you offer?
Our primary criteria for product selection are reliability and safety. Neither we nor the home builder want any after-sales problems. By offering 3-6 packages of each product line, we attempt to hit different price points for the homeowner.
How much does a package cost the homeowner?
The cost of the package to the homeowner is calculated based on the individual package and the individual market. Our suggested mark-up for the home builder is 50 – 100%. However, the final price to the homeowner is at the discretion of the home builder as they know their market better than we do. Shipping is added to the order based on the size and location of the shipment.
As an example, the suggested prices to the homeowner for home security packages range from $1800 to $4000. This price includes a 100% mark up for the home builder equating add-on revenue of $900 – $2000 per home. Deck/patio furnishings and sheds tend to be more expensive creating greater add-on income for the home builder.
Are you an independent company? Are your products selected independently?
We are a small, growing independent company. We are not owned, financed, or connected to any large corporation or supplier. We base our decisions on what is best for the homeowner, the home builder and us. We believe if we can provide what is best for these three stakeholders, we will be successful.
